The Goal of the Job
The Senior Manager, Cybersecurity Engineering, will lead the design, implementation, and enhancement of the bank’s cybersecurity technologies and security architecture. The role focuses on building strong and reliable security systems that support business operations while meeting regulatory and compliance requirements. This is a senior leadership position within the Cybersecurity Department and reports to top management.
Major Duties to Perform
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Lead the engineering and operation of cybersecurity tools and platforms, including firewalls, endpoint protection, SIEM, encryption, and threat detection systems
- Design and implement security controls for networks, applications, cloud environments, and endpoints
- Oversee vulnerability management, penetration testing, and remediation activities
- Promote secure-by-design practices in new systems and system upgrades
- Work closely with IT, risk, compliance, and business teams to integrate cybersecurity into daily operations
- Manage and mentor a team of cybersecurity engineers
- Monitor emerging cyber threats and recommend improvements to security controls
- Ensure compliance with Bank of Tanzania (BoT) regulations and international standards such as ISO 27001 and NIST
- Support incident response, investigation, and recovery processes
The Required Qualifications and Prior Work Experience
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CCSP are an added advantage
- At least 8–10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with strong experience in engineering or security architecture
- Proven experience leading teams and managing complex cybersecurity projects, preferably in banking or financial services
- Strong knowledge of network security, cloud security (AWS/Azure), endpoint protection, and threat intelligence
- Good understanding of banking regulations, risk management, and compliance
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Tanzanian citizenship or legal eligibility to work in Tanzania
