Description of the Position
The Senior Project Manager will lead project management for CA RE’s Global Supply Chain Transformation portfolio, which seeks to drive a transformation of CARE’s supply chain processes enabled by the right technology, data, organization, and skills. Reporting to the Supply Chain Transformation Senior Director, who provides the strategic vision for the transformation, this role is accountable for achieving it through expert project management.
This role involves coordinating the work of a large, diverse set of stakeholders and managing direct reports.
This role provides project management for a complex portfolio of programs and projects, ensuring alignment with CA RE’s Project Delivery Lifecycle methodology. This role can be based wherever CARE is registered.
Major Duties
Planning and Implementation of the Project
- Develop plans that have defined scope, objectives, governance, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Manage and prioritise project implementation & delivery in accordance with the established plan(s).
- Identify and share resource and budget challenges to ensure project teams have the necessary skills and capacity to meet project requirements.
- Proactively address potential roadblocks and challenges to minimise impact on project success.
- Serve as a key operational enabler and strategic support to the Supply Chain Transformation Senior Director, proactively addressing team issues, developing resourcing requirements for new projects, and identifying potential roadblocks to ensure smooth portfolio delivery.
Management, Governance, and Reporting of the Project
- Drive the portfolio to a regular beat: monitor workstream activity, manage adherence to plan, and help team members resolve obstacles to delivery.

- Proactively identify/manage project risks and issues.
- Support the Supply Chain Transformation Senior Director in managing the portfolio governance process, including the Supply Chain Transformation SteerCo, with required stakeholders.
Involvement of Stakeholders
- Establish strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring their needs are understood and expectations are managed throughout the project delivery lifecycle.
- Communicate changes to scope or plans to stakeholders and assess their potential impact on the project’s overall objectives.
- Work in close collaboration with the Senior Global Change Manager to ensure change management plans are incorporated and aligned with the overall programme plan.
- Organise and lead regular project check-ins with various audiences, including weekly project team meetings, monthly core team meetings, and broader sessions with stakeholders.
- Contribute towards the broader promotion of project management.
- Be an active member of Transformation’s Project and Change Management group.
- Help improve project management aspects within CARE’s Project Delivery Lifecycle and share examples of best practices.
- Be part of a group that helps deliver Project Delivery Lifecycle training to new project managers within Transformation and staff outside of Transformation.
- Mentor and develop others, fostering their skill sets and career growth.
The Needed Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Proven track record (6-8 years) of successfully managing complex projects from initiation to completion.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in project management software tools and methodologies.
- Developed organisational awareness and ability to understand any sensitivities within a complex multi-stakeholder structure.
- Solid understanding of risk management and change management.
The Sought Qualifications
- Master’s degree, or equivalent, with broad organizational experience
- PMP certification
- Business analysis/requirements gathering knowledge.
- International experience and understanding of challenges facing the humanitarian and development sector.
