Program Description
The Graduate Internship Programme runs for a flexible duration of 3 to 24 months, depending on the placement and departmental needs. Placements occur across multiple Western Cape Government departments in Cape Town CBD, including:
- Agriculture
- Police Oversight and Community Safety
- Cultural Affairs and Sport
- Department of the Premier
- Economic Development and Tourism

- Department of Infrastructure
- Local Government
- Mobility Department
- Provincial Treasury
- Social Development

The Qualification Criteria
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen residing in the Western Cape.
- Be between 20 and 35 years old.
- I am currently unemployed and seeking practical work experience.
- Hold a completed qualification at NQF Level 5 or higher: Certificate (NQF 5), Diploma (NQF 6), Degree (NQF 7), or Postgraduate qualification (NQF 8+)
- Important note: Candidates who have previously participated in the Graduate Internship Programme will not be considered
Required skills and competencies include:
- Good written and verbal communication skills in at least two official Western Cape languages
- Computer literacy (especially MS Office)
- Ability to operate basic office equipment
- Strong planning and organising abilities
Final academic results will be verified, and applicants must be willing to work in Cape Town CBD (no relocation, accommodation, or travel costs are covered).
