Nanyang President’s Graduate Scholarship Is Open To Students
The Nanyang President’s Graduate Scholarship (NPGS) is a competitive, prestigious scholarship scheme designed to encourage outstanding graduates or final-year students to take their first step towards a leading research career by pursuing a full-time PhD at NTU. The premier scholarship granted by NTU’s president, recognizing PhD students who exemplify exceptional academic, research, and leadership qualities.
Qualifications
The scholarship position aims to train individuals to become experts to serve humanity wherever they find themselves. There is no restriction as to the nationality of candidates. Preference will be given to Singapore citizens and Singapore permanent residents.
- You must have an honors degree (highest distinction) or equivalent at the bachelor’s level.
- If you have not yet completed your undergraduate degree program, you will need to furnish documentation from your university that you are on track to get an honors (highest distinction) degree or equivalent.
The Coverage and Award Terms
There is no bond attached to the scholarship. The award is tenable for one year initially and is renewable, subject to satisfactory progress. The maximum scholarship period is 4 years for PhD candidates, as determined by the school and the availability of research funding in each case.
Citizenship
Scholarship opportunities are intended to help academics prepare for their future careers. Countries invest heavily in academics. Therefore, the Nanyang President’s Graduate Scholarship considers citizenship. The scholarship targets specific citizens to benefit.

The scholarship is a great opportunity that gives qualified students the chance to study peacefully. Â The scholarship may help us get well-trained academics who would make remarkable contributions to their country’s economy. It will be disbursed during the final year scholarship renewal.
- Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions shall be provided at a rate pegged to the prevailing employer’s CPF contribution rate, on top of the monthly stipend received.
- International students must perform teaching/laboratory supervision duties to fulfill the requirements of the Graduate Assistantship Programme (GAP). Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents may perform a GAP at the discretion of the schools.

- Social Science and Humanities (SSH) Disciplines
- Computer Information Systems Disciplines
- Non-Computer Information Systems Disciplines
- This award also covers the annual tuition fee.
- Priority will be given to subsidized campus accommodation.
- Scholarship coverage and award terms are subject to change.
- The university reserves the right to vary the amount of the award stipend at any time.

- Application dates for the Academic Year 2026–2027 will be announced.
- For applications to the National Institute of Education (NIE), please note that the application period is from 1 October 2025 to 28 November 2025.
