Financial Services Specialist at Vodacom Tanzania Plc, Dar es Salaam, March 2026
Financial Services Specialist at Vodacom Tanzania Plc. If you’re passionate about mobile money, fintech, and shaping the future of financial services in Tanzania, then I have an opportunity that might be your perfect match. Vodacom Tanzania, the country’s leading mobile financial services provider, is seeking a Financial Services Specialist to join its team in Dar es Salaam.
This isn’t just another banking job. This is a chance to work with M-Pesa, one of Africa’s biggest fintech success stories, and help drive the next wave of digital financial innovation. Let me break down everything you need to know.
What’s This Role All About?
As a Financial Services Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of Vodacom’s New Financial Services (NFS) team. Your mission? To execute and implement the roadmap for new financial products, based on the company’s strategic direction. You’ll also be involved in research and development for future financial services – so if you love spotting trends and bringing new ideas to life, this role is for you.
You’ll be based in Dar es Salaam, working with a global team that’s part of the wider Vodafone family, and you’ll play a key part in growing M-Pesa’s ambitions in the financial services space. This is an opportunity that gives you exposure to the international work environment.
What Will You Actually Be Doing?
Executing the Product Portfolio
You’ll drive day-to-day product initiatives, making sure everything aligns with the overall strategy. You’ll develop and manage adoption strategies for new financial services, and you’ll be responsible for delivering revenue targets across each product line. You’ll also provide regular analytical insights on product performance and keep your finger on the pulse of financial services markets in Tanzania and globally.
Managing the Product Roadmap
Innovation is key here. You’ll bring new financial services ideas to life, ensuring they meet market needs and advance M-Pesa’s ambitions. You’ll continuously review and enhance existing products and drive the execution of product improvements in line with the roadmap.
Engaging with Stakeholders
You’ll develop and execute new strategic partnerships with financial institutions. Together with the NFS Manager, you’ll drive business negotiations with partners and ensure M-Pesa’s goals are met. This means you’ll need to be comfortable talking to banks, fintechs, and other key players.
Providing Business Intelligence
You’ll analyse customer behaviour and provide insights to guide the growth and adoption of NFS products. You’ll work with customer value management (CVM) platforms to drive product initiatives, and you’ll give timely feedback on market trends and competition.
Ensuring Product Compliance
You’ll ensure all products comply with M-Pesa and Vodacom’s business development policies, processes, and standards. You’ll stay up to date on financial services regulations and ensure all products are delivered in compliance with the rules. You’ll also support product regulatory approval and risk management.
Do You Have What It Takes?
Qualifications and Experience
You need a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Economics, Financial Technology, or a related field. A Master’s Degree will give you an added advantage. You should have 2+ years of experience in mobile money, banking, or financial services – preferably in digital financial products. Strong knowledge of mobile money, fintech, and financial services is essential.
Skills That Will Make You Stand Out
Vodacom wants someone with strong analytical skills, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving ability. You need solid business acumen. Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills are a must. If you’re knowledgeable in SQL and databases, that’s a key added advantage.
You should have a strong understanding of local markets and customer needs. You need to be a self-starter with exceptional people, presentation, and communication skills. Solid influencing and negotiation skills are important, too. And perhaps most importantly, you need passion and commitment to driving mobile money growth and innovation, and the ability to operate at pace.
Why This Job Is Worth Applying For
Working at Vodacom Tanzania means joining a leading international telecoms company that serves millions of customers. But it’s more than that. Vodacom (and the wider Vodafone group) believes that connectivity is a force for good. They’re committed to improving lives, empowering people, and protecting the planet.
You’ll be part of a global, diverse community with many different minds, abilities, backgrounds, and cultures. They’re committed to increasing diversity, ensuring equal representation, and making Vodacom a place where everyone feels safe, valued, and included. You’ll be working on M-Pesa – a product that has transformed financial inclusion across Africa. That’s something to be proud of.
