The City of Johannesburg

  • The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) remains committed to empowering youth through practical work-based training opportunities.
  • As part of its continued efforts to address the increasing demand from tertiary institutions for structured on-the-job learning, the city has introduced an extensive Internship Program for 2025.
  • This initiative forms an essential component of Johannesburg’s broader strategy to bridge the gap between academic study and workplace experience.

The Goal of the Internship Program

The CoJ Internship Programme is designed to provide students and recent graduates with experiential learning that complements their academic qualifications and skills. Many higher-education institutions require students to complete a period of workplace exposure to qualify for graduation or to strengthen their professional readiness. This program enables participants to gain hands-on experience within a real municipal environment, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations and develop the skills necessary for future employment.
